Gameplay Tuning & X-Factor/Superstar Overhaul

X-Factor / Superstar Reshuffle

This patch sees a significant reshuffling of player statuses: promoting new X-Factors/Superstars and demoting others.

Promoted to X-Factor:

  • Puka Nacua – Double Me + Route Technician
  • Baker Mayfield – Brick Wall + Gutsy Scrambler
  • Jonathan Taylor – Freight Train + Tank + Closer
  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba – Double Me + Deep Out Elite + Mid Out Elite
  • Jahmyr Gibbs – First One Free + Human Joystick + Evasive

Promoted to Superstar:

  • Jared Goff, Tyler Warren, Jake Ferguson, Matthew Stafford, De’Von Achane, Devin Lloyd, Jordan Love, Bucky Irving, Leonard Williams, Garret Bolles, Nik Bonitto

Demoted statuses:

  • X-Factors no longer: Travis Kelce, Matt Milano, Jaire Alexander, AJ Brown, Kyle Hamilton, Quinnen Williams.
  • Players losing Superstar status entirely: Cooper Kupp, DJ Moore, Alvin Kamara, Nick Chubb, Marlon Humphrey, and others.

Gameplay Fixes & Improvements

  • QB speed boost exploit fixed: no longer gains sprint speed from QB juke behind the line of scrimmage.
  • Defender pursuit improved for containment against QB jukes.
  • Fixed audible to a new defensive play during automotion receiver motion.
  • Route changed in Gun Bunch X-Nasty – Y Flat goal line play (one previously exploitable).
  • Pass rushers now disengage earlier when QB starts to scramble.

These changes aim at reducing exploitative tactics and improving realism.

AI Behaviour & Playbook Expansions

AI Improvements

  • Run-game play-calling logic tweaked: AI now leans more on effective run types (dives, inside zone, stretches) instead of random/ineffective options.
  • Reduced unnecessary jukes and moves behind the line by ball-carriers; focus shifted to north-south runs.
  • AI QBs take fewer unnecessary sacks, throw the ball away more intelligently when receivers are covered, and manage the clock better in late-game or halftime situations.

Playbook & Formations Added

  • Over 1,000 new plays added across playbooks, including 17 new formations and 280+ new plays.
  • Nearly every team’s offensive and defensive playbooks got new formations:
    • Offense: new gun/bunch/pistol formations for teams like 49ers, Dolphins, Eagles, Lions, Chargers, etc.
    • Defense: new formations like Nickel Load Double Mug, 2-4 Load Double Mug, 3-3 Load Double Mug added for passing-situation focus.

This expansion gives players more tactical variety and freshness in play-selection.

User Interface, Art & Presentation Tweaks

  • Added new team entrances for the Steelers, Seahawks, and Titans-enhancing immersion.
  • In Play Now, the 2025-season rivalry matchups and uniform options are now available via a dedicated Rivalries tab.
  • Updated art and player likenesses: gold NFL shield added for award winners (MVP, Offensive/Defensive Player of Year, Offensive/Defensive Rookie of Year) and specific players’ likenesses improved.

These refinements round out the update by polishing the look and feel of the experience.

Final Thoughts

The “Be All-Madden” update for Madden 26 is a standout for its scale and depth. It blends homage to legend John Madden with practical gameplay enhancements, richer strategy in Franchise mode, refreshed player tiers, and smarter AI. Whether you’re in Franchise, Online, Ultimate Team or just playing head-to-head, there’s meaningful change here.

If you’re a franchise-mode loyalist, the wear & tear and coach tuning are game-changers. If you lean into gameplay, the fix to QB jukes and smarter defenders will improve fairness. And if you love building teams, the upgraded X-Factors/Superstars and expanded playbooks add fresh possibilities.
