The Forge Hidden Maze Update – Complete Guide, Tips & What’s New

The Forge Hidden Maze Update complete guide showing maze entrance, new island, NPCs, weapons, and Heavenly Pickaxe in Roblox

The Forge, one of Roblox’s most engaging RPG-meets-mining experiences, received a major time-limited content expansion called the Hidden Maze Update on January 11, 2026. This update brings fresh challenges, exclusive rewards, new NPCs, and a sprawling secret maze that almost feels like a mini-game within the game itself. It’s designed to push exploration and combat skills further than ever before – but with rotating paths and exclusive contents that disappear when the update ends.

In this guide, you’ll find everything you need to know about the update – from how to access the maze and navigate it to all the new items and quality-of-life changes introduced in this patch.

Hidden Maze Update: Release and Time-Limited Nature

The Hidden Maze update went live on Sunday, January 11 at 10:00 AM PT (January 11 at 11:30 PM IST) and runs until Tuesday, January 13 at 10:00 AM PT. After the timer ends, maze content and certain exclusive rewards become unavailable until possibly future re-runs, so prioritizing participation is essential for completionists.

Because the event is time-limited, players were encouraged to log in during the window if they wanted to collect rare ores, finish maze quests, or obtain new items before it closes.

Getting to the Hidden Maze: The New Island

Once you join the world after the update goes live, the first challenge is simply accessing the maze zone:

1. Locate the Ferry Dock

After spawning in the main area, head left toward the dock where the new maze area appears beyond the water. You’ll need a special material – coinite – to operate the ferry that takes you there.

2. Collect Coinite

Coinite is mined from medium and large red crystals inside Raven’s Cave, which lies beneath the peak near the forging station. Mine these crystals until you have enough coinite to pay the ferry operator.

3. Ride the Ferry Across

Give one unit of coinite to the operator, then stand on the ferry until it launches across to the new island. Do not swim under or alongside the boat – touching the water will kill your character.

Once transported, you’ll find yourself standing at the entrance to the Hidden Maze area – a sprawling, reset-daily labyrinth filled with quests, enemies, and rare loot.

Inside the Secret Maze: Exploration & Daily Resets

Maze Structure & Navigation

The maze is not static; the layout resets each day, meaning there’s no universally fixed path to follow. Exploration and memory help, but each new maze run could differ from the last. It contains branching hallways, hidden corners, and both combat and puzzle elements that reward careful navigation or brute force.

Players quickly learned that, although confusing at first, keeping track of direction and landmarks – especially the cardinal directions like east and west – helps in tracking progress. There are also easter-egg NPCs and merchants hidden along the corridors.

Daily Quests

NPCs inside the maze give out daily quests that reset every 24 hours. These include objectives like defeating specific enemies or collecting particular items. Completing these quests rewards valuable gold and gear.

However, at launch, some players reported bugs where killing quest NPCs prevented them from respawning properly – something the developers are likely to fix in future patches.

New Enemies & NPCs

Along with the maze itself, the update introduces several new entities:

Skeleton Pirates

These undead pirates roam sections of the maze. With 7k–10k HP, they offer satisfying combat encounters and are tied to multiple maze quests.

Cthulhu-Style Beasts

Mini-boss-level foes with around 13k health lurk in deeper maze areas. These tougher enemies yield better materials and contribute to the maze’s danger and reward balance.

New Items, Weapons & Shop Mechanics

Fungi Shop

Inside the maze – usually located near the core pathway – is a shop run by a fungus-themed NPC. This vendor stocks new items, potions, and weapons that rotate every few hours (about 5 hours between restocks).

Notable new items include:

  • Fungus Potion: Grants 20% faster mining, 50% extra mining damage, and 50% luck boost for 600 seconds.
  • Crystallized Broadsword: A straight sword with unique stats.
  • Executioner’s Great Axe: Has a hidden crafting recipe unlocked once you obtain it.
  • Shark’s Fang: A weapon with its own unlockable recipe.
  • Anchored Straight Blade: Another powerful blade variation.

Some variations of these weapons are rarer than others, so inspecting silhouettes and comparing stats is recommended.

Heavenly Pickaxe & Angelic Quests

How to Unlock the New Pickaxe

At the deeper end of the maze are two NPCs that will start you on a questline. These quests – often dubbed angelic quests – require multiple stages such as defeating skeleton pirates and special boss creatures.

Completion of all required quests allows you to obtain the Heavenly Pickaxe – a high-performance mining tool with:

  • Approximately 725 mining power
  • ~85% luck boost
  • 4 rune slots
  • Cost: ~2.4 million gold (after quest progression)

Comparison With Other Pickaxes

Some content creators noted that the Heavenly Pickaxe isn’t drastically better than the existing Dragon Head Pickaxe, which offers comparable stats and may remain viable even after unlocking the new tool. But having both gives players flexibility in builds and rune optimization.

Other Update Changes

Although the Hidden Maze update focused heavily on content and exploration, smaller balance changes were also introduced:

  • Rock & Crystal health adjustments across certain areas – minor QoL changes that slightly reduce health values of some nodes.
  • Plans for future updates include a recycling system (to reuse unwanted gear), decreased RNG in crafting, and expanded crafting paths for high-tier items.

Tips for Players

1. Go in With a Plan

Since the maze resets daily and includes quests that reset too, prioritize weapons and quests you can complete quickly.

2. Don’t Swim to the Maze

Swimming to the maze island kills you instantly – only the ferry gets you there safely.

3. Use Private Servers

If enemies aren’t spawning or quests bug, switching to a private server often fixes the issue due to dynamic NPC spawn timing.

4. Save Rare Ores

If recycling isn’t in yet, don’t waste rare ores on mediocre recipes – inventory management pays off once crafting evolves.

Final Thoughts

The Hidden Maze Update in The Forge successfully adds a fresh take on progression – mixing puzzle-like exploration with classic RPG rewards and competitive gear acquisition. While short-lived, this update provides players with new goals, exploration mechanics, and reasons to log in daily.

Whether you’re aiming for the Heavenly Pickaxe, the rarest weapons, or just trying to complete all quests before the timer ends – the maze offers something meaningful for every playstyle.
