Roblox Elementalism Classes Guide: Best Class for Every Playstyle

Roblox Elementalism is an Avatar-inspired action RPG that lets you bend one of four elements, fight bosses, and carve your own path through a vast open world. One of the first big decisions you will face beyond picking your element is choosing a class. Your class shapes how you fight, what skills you can unlock, and how much of your element you actually keep. This guide breaks down every class available in the game, what each one offers, and how to make the right call for your playstyle.

What Is Elementalism and Why Do Classes Matter

Elementalism is an action RPG that previously went by the name Elemental Legacy. Your starting element determines your nation’s alignment and influences your early playstyle. As you progress, you can work through exploration, questing, element and class mastery, nation-focused gameplay, world events, boss fights, PvP, and long-term progression systems.

When you first load in, you are automatically placed in the Elementalist class. That is not permanent. You can choose to change your class and become a Ninja, Fighter, or Warrior. However, the Elementalist class offers a bit more than all the other classes. Understanding what each class actually does before you commit is important because switching does come with trade-offs.

The Four Classes in Elementalism

Elementalist

This is your default class and, for most players, the strongest one to stick with long-term. Elementalists specialize in manipulating specific matter elements through energy. They focus on fire, air, water, or earth and can branch into variants such as plant, sand, or combustion.

As an Elementalist, you unlock skills by gaining mastery. To gain mastery, you need to meditate. Every Elementalist has sub-classes depending on their chosen element. Here is a full breakdown of what sub-classes each element unlocks:

  • Fire: Combustion and Lightning
  • Water: Plants, Healing, and Blood Manipulation
  • Earth: Sand, Metal, and Lava
  • Air: Sound (only one sub-class currently available)

Water is widely considered the most versatile element, and Bloodbending is the strongest subclass in the entire game. That said, unlocking bloodbending requires 100 mastery, which is significantly higher than the 25 mastery needed for most other sub-classes. The grind is real, but so is the payoff.

Every subclass gives new skills unique to the subclass. You can only have one subclass. So choose carefully based on your preferred playstyle.

Ninja

The Ninja class is a complete departure from element-based combat. The Ninja class gives up the use of energy and the manipulation of matter. Instead, the Ninja specializes in acrobatics, flexibility, imbuing their own body with energy to enhance their strength, and the use of various weapons and gadgets.

The Ninja class has bow, shuriken, and musket sub-classes, each offering additional skills. If you enjoy a fast, weapon-focused playstyle over elemental combat, Ninja is designed for exactly that. Ninja is considered the best class for PvP currently, though skilled players can find ways to disengage from it. Keep in mind that switching to Ninja means you lose your element entirely, so make sure that trade-off works for you before committing.

Fighter

The Fighter class sits somewhere between Elementalist and Ninja. You do not fully give up your element, but you use it differently. Fighters use energy mainly for physical enhancement and fighting styles. Fighters gain unique style skills and can imbue those styles with their element.

The Fighter class has no sub-class. The lack of a subclass is a notable limitation compared to the Elementalist, but the fighting style system adds a different kind of depth to combat. Available fighting styles include Iron Fist and Boxing, alongside the basic combat style you start with. Just be aware that imbuing your element into your fighting style may reduce your elemental mastery output, so there is a real cost to this hybrid approach.

Warrior

The Warrior class focuses on weapon mastery rather than fighting styles. Warriors use energy for physical enhancement while focusing on weapon mastery. Warriors gain weapon skills and can imbue their weapon attacks with their element.

The Warrior class has no sub-class options. Since the Warrior class is pretty new and is not as deeply developed as some of the other classes, it is advised to avoid it until it gets more skills. The potential is there, but until the developers flesh it out further, you are better off in one of the other three classes.

How to Change Your Class

Switching classes is straightforward once you know where to look. Go to Settings by pressing N and clicking the cogwheel, then enable NPC Indicators and choose ClassChangers. This will highlight the class change NPCs on your map. Walk up to the relevant NPC and press E to switch. Just note that you will lose one mastery when you change, and if you go Ninja, your element is gone for good unless you switch back.

For sub-classes, the process is similar. Talk to your sub-class trainer to unlock new sub-class skills. This requires 30 Mastery and 2,500 Aureus. Sub-skills, which are separate from sub-classes, have a higher barrier. Learning a sub-skill from a sub-skill teacher requires 100 Mastery and 7,500 Aureus.

Which Class Should You Pick

For new players, sticking with the Elementalist is the safest and most rewarding choice. The sub-class system gives you a lot of build variety, and your element opens up the most long-term options. Water with blood bending is currently the top pick for players willing to grind to 100 mastery, while fire is great for aggressive beginners who want serious damage output immediately.

If you are interested in PvP specifically and enjoy a more acrobatic, weapon-focused approach, Ninja is worth exploring once you have a solid feel for the game. Fighter is a good middle ground for players who want to keep their element while still leaning into physical combat.

Warrior is best left alone until the developers add more content to support it.
