Credit cost also matters a lot here. Some of the best classes cost 200,000 to 250,000 Credits, which is a serious grind. We will point out where the value makes sense and where you might be overpaying.

Necromancer is the best class in Survive Zombie Arena right now, and it is not particularly close. What makes it special is how it scales. Its kit works around three abilities: Soul Harvester, Raise Undead, and Death Nova. You harvest souls from zombie corpses, turn those souls into minions that fight beside you, and then detonate those minions with Death Nova for massive area damage.

The key insight here is that Death Nova’s damage scales with how many minions you have detonating at once. In late waves, zombie density spikes hard. That means more kills, more souls, more minions, and more explosive AoE when you pop Nova. No other class in the game has this kind of scaling, which is exactly why it sits at S-tier. If you ever watch top leaderboard players, most of them are running Necromancer for a reason.

For solo play, you can position yourself near choke points like staircases or sandbag walls and keep a steady stream of minions between you and the horde. For teams, your minion wall buys your squadmates precious time while you blast down the high-value targets. The one catch: it costs 250,000 Credits and demands active management. Passive players will underperform it heavily.

A-Tier: The Workhorses

Bastion (Legendary, 200,000 Credits)

Bastion was added to the game around May 2026 and immediately changed the squad meta. Its Bunker ability alone is one of the most powerful tools in the entire game. It makes every player inside it invincible, regenerates their HP, and gives them a damage boost all at the same time. On top of that, its Laser Turret auto-tracks zombies at range, and its Drone both shoots and absorbs incoming damage. Stack multiple drones and you have a small army protecting you without lifting a finger.

Some sources rate Bastion at S-tier alongside Necromancer. We keep it at A-tier for now since high-wave data is still coming in, but make no mistake: if you are playing co-op regularly, Bastion is arguably the most impactful class you can bring to a team.

Medic (Uncommon, 10,000 Credits)

Here is something we tell every new player: Medic is the single best value unlock in the game. For just 10,000 Credits, you get an A-tier class that heals both players and structures. Its Mending Tower can repair your teammates’ turrets and barricades mid-wave, which is genuinely game-changing when paired with a Tactician or Engineer. The Healing Station keeps players alive on the floor below while the upper level handles incoming waves.

One honest caveat though: Medic is significantly weaker in solo. Without teammates to heal, half of its kit goes to waste. If you play mostly solo, look at Marksman first. But for co-op, Medic at 10,000 Credits is an absolute no-brainer.

Tactician (Epic, 75,000 Credits)

Tactician is the best defensive anchor in the game. Its Vanguard Turret always targets the strongest zombie on the field, which means elites and boss-types get focused down automatically. Steel Barricades block chokepoints beautifully, especially on the Rooftop Map where stairwells become natural funnels. When you pair Tactician with a Medic to heal those structures, the combination becomes almost unstoppable.

Even solo, Tactician holds up well. You can use the Barricades to protect the Vanguard Turret, set up a solid defensive line, and let the turret do the heavy lifting while you handle anything that breaks through.

Marksman (Uncommon, 15,000 Credits)

Marksman is the best first serious unlock for players who are still grinding toward the bigger classes. At 15,000 Credits, you get Deadeye (which makes shots pierce through multiple zombies), Sonar Ping (which marks enemies for bonus damage from all guns), and Frag Grenades for grouped mobs. Outside of Necromancer, Marksman has the highest raw damage potential of any class in the game when Deadeye and Sonar Ping are active together.

The weakness is that Marksman has zero defensive utility. In solo, you will need to stay on the move constantly. In a team with someone anchoring the line, Marksman becomes a devastating carry.

B-Tier: Solid but Situational

Demolitionist (Epic, 50,000 Credits)

Demolitionist’s Shockwave Bomb is one of the best crowd control tools in the entire game. The knockback and stun it applies to tightly grouped zombie packs is incredible, and when a skilled Demolitionist places Shockwaves on the right chokepoints, it can stall entire waves. The Molotov adds solid fire damage on top of that. The issue is that Demolitionist scales poorly. As waves get harder, scattered fast elites become more common, and Demolitionist’s area denial loses its effectiveness against single targets.

Engineer (Rare, 20,000 Credits)

Engineer is essentially a weaker version of Tactician. Its Flame Turret and Auto Turret can hold a lane reasonably well in early to mid waves, and the Steel Barricade adds some solid structure to your positioning. The problem is that Engineer becomes heavily reliant on gun damage in later waves because the turrets stop keeping up. It also has no mobility tools. If your position collapses, you are in serious trouble. Think of Engineer as a stepping stone to Tactician once you have saved up 75,000 Credits.

C-Tier: Use Until You Can Upgrade

Survivor (Common, Free)

Survivor is your starting point. It is free, it gives you access to basic Barricades and Landmines, and it is genuinely fine for your very first few matches while you learn the game. However, it is intentionally the weakest class in the roster. Do not skip waves when running Survivor as Landmines need time to trigger, and avoid the Auto Turret in favor of spamming Landmines in crowds. Save up fast and get Medic or Marksman as soon as possible.

Ninja (Rare, 25,000 Credits)

Ninja is perhaps the most disappointing class for its Credit cost. At 25,000 Credits, you expect something competitive with A-tier options. Instead, you get a class that requires melee range to get full value out of Blade Fury, which becomes increasingly risky as waves progress. Cloak is situationally useful for escaping bad spots or clutch repositioning, but that is a niche use. By the time elite zombies and crowds are stacking in mid-to-late waves, Ninja simply cannot match the damage or utility of the classes around it. Marksman at 15,000 Credits outperforms it in nearly every scenario.

Best Class Combinations for Team Play

If you are running with a squad, here are the setups we recommend:

• General best trio: Tactician + Medic + Marksman. One anchors, one sustains, one carries DPS.
• Late-wave leaderboard push: Necromancer + Tactician + Bastion + Medic. Death Nova does the damage, Bunker keeps everyone alive, Medic keeps structures up.
• Budget co-op start: Medic + Marksman. Two A-tier classes for under 25,000 Credits combined. An excellent starting point.

Final Verdict: Which Class Should You Choose?

If you play co-op and are just starting out, unlock Medic first. It is cheap, strong, and immediately useful. If you prefer solo play, grab Marksman next. Both will serve you well into mid-wave territory. From there, save up for Tactician if you love a defensive playstyle, or grind all the way to Necromancer if you want to chase the leaderboard. Bastion is a fantastic pick for serious co-op squads who want that invincibility layer in tough waves.
