If you play Roblox Fisch regularly, you already know how exciting new updates can get. The latest minor update dropped on May 16, 2026, and it brought some genuinely interesting additions. We got the return of Catch Flags after more than a year, a mysterious nighttime questline near Moosewood Lighthouse, and two brand-new creatures to hunt. Those two are the Megamouth Shark and the Humpback Whale. In this guide, we are going to focus primarily on the Megamouth Shark, walk you through exactly how to catch it, and also touch on the Humpback Whale so you can farm both in one session.
What Is the Megamouth Shark in Fisch
The Megamouth Shark is a rare nighttime hunt event added to Roblox Fisch in the May 2026 minor update. It is not your standard fish. You cannot force it to spawn using Totems or codes. It appears naturally and randomly on the server, which makes it genuinely rare and exciting when it does show up.
This creature slowly drifts along the ocean surface at night, following drifting plankton near the water. The event is modeled on real-world behavior, since Megamouth Sharks are actual deep-sea filter feeders that prey on plankton-class prey. The developers clearly drew from that when designing how Krill bait interacts with this event: using Krill bait while ocean fishing at night increases your chances of triggering the spawn, which is why we always recommend keeping it equipped during nighttime ocean sessions.

Once the event fires, you will see a global notification in your chat box. The announcement says “Megamouth Hunt,” and that is your cue to move fast.
Where to Find the Megamouth Shark
The Megamouth Shark tends to appear around the Tidefall Portal area. The exact GPS coordinates you want to head to are 3138, 132, 910. When you arrive, look near the boats parked at the entrance of the Tidefall Portal. The shark roams that area and slowly follows plankton on the surface.

One important thing we want to stress here is that it does not stick to one fixed path. It roams freely. So if you arrive and it is not exactly where you expect, just look around the ocean near Tidefall, and you should spot it. Many players reported finding it more consistently around the Tidefall region, so that is always our first stop.
How to Catch the Megamouth Shark
This is where we need to be very careful, because the Megamouth Shark is extremely skittish. Think of it like the Seal companion mechanic. If you rush your boat toward it, it will sense the disturbance and disappear back into the depths. The event ends, and you get nothing.
Here is what you should do instead:
- Approach the shark very slowly and keep your distance as you close in.
- Once you are close enough to reach its fishing radius, stop moving your boat entirely.
- Cast your line from the edge of its radius rather than trying to get right on top of it.
- Fish carefully. Even while fishing, prolonged disturbance will eventually scare it away.
- Keep one eye on the time. If the day breaks while you are still fishing, the shark will leave.
The approach phase matters far more than your rod stats here. Even the best rod in the game will not help you if you startle the shark before you even cast.

For your bait, use Krill. It is the best option for this event and also doubles as the bait that increases spawn probability in the first place. So if you are grinding for the spawn to happen, keep Krill equipped the entire time.
Best Rods to Use
While patience and approach matter most, your rod choice still plays a role. We recommend using a high-resilience rod to handle the catch once you hook the Megamouth. Some solid picks include:
- Ethereal Prism Rod
- Rod of Zenith
- No Life Rod
- Elemental Rod
Any of these will serve you well. The key is resilience, because you want to maintain control during the fight without losing the catch.
Where to Get Krill Bait
You can buy Krill Bait at the Snow Cap merchant building. Head inside and look at the table. Stock up as much as you can before heading out for the hunt, especially if you are planning a long session. It goes fast, particularly when you are also fishing to trigger the spawn in the first place.
The Humpback Whale Migration
Since both events share the same bait and both are worth farming together, let us quickly cover the Humpback Whale. This migration is actually more common than the Megamouth Shark event. It also announces itself in the global Event chat box, so watch for that notification.

When the Humpback Whale migration spawns, head to the Lost Jungle POI at coordinates -2680, 154, -2078. The whale typically begins its path near there before drifting across the ocean in curved and unpredictable directions. Unlike any other migration we have seen in Fisch before, this whale moves freely and does not follow a set route.
To catch it, you need to make the whale breach. You do this by fishing within the whale’s pool and causing a disturbance. Once the whale starts going underwater, that is your moment. Cast immediately and hook it before it resurfaces and calms down again. The whale also sings as it travels, which is the best way to track it across the open ocean. Follow the sound, and you will eventually close the distance.

A few things to note about conditions: the Humpback Whale has a higher spawn probability during Summer with clear weather. So if the season and weather align, stay alert. The Humpback also has a massive -88% progress speed penalty, which means a strong, high-control rod is important here. We recommend the Serraphic Rod with the Blessed enchantment if you have it. The No Life Rod and Rod of Glorp also work well.
The New Catch Flags Feature
This update also brought back Catch Flags, which had been missing for over a year. We think this is one of the most underrated additions of this patch. There are two types of flags. Global flags appear for catches of 1 in 100,000 or rarer and are visible to every player in the game. Server flags appear for catches of 1 in 1,000 or rarer and are only visible to players in your current server.
The system works smartly. There is a set limit to how many flags can be active at once, and rarer catches replace older, less rare ones over time. This keeps the display clean and prevents the lag issues that plagued the original Catch Flag system. To enable it, go to your menu, head to Accessibility on the left side, and toggle on “Show Catch Flags.” It is off by default, so make sure you switch it on.
This feature is genuinely useful for figuring out which areas of the map are hot at any given time. If you see a cluster of flags near a specific region, that is a signal worth acting on.
Final Tips for Farming Both Events
If your goal is to farm both the Megamouth Shark and the Humpback Whale in a single session, here is the most efficient approach we recommend. Fish in the open ocean at night with Krill bait equipped. Keep watching the global Event chat box at all times. When the Megamouth spawns, head to Tidefall immediately and approach with patience. If the Humpback Migration fires instead, sprint to the Lost Jungle POI and track it by sound. Since both events use Krill and both benefit from Summer conditions, a single farming session can cover both without much setup switching.
Neither event can be forced. The waiting is part of the grind. But when either creature finally shows up, you will be glad you were prepared.
