Violence District recently got a major update, and it brought something we have all been waiting for. A brand new killer called The Cure has arrived, and he is already turning heads. We spent a lot of time playing him and testing different builds, and we are here to break everything down for you. Whether you are a beginner trying to understand his kit or an experienced player looking for the best strategy, this guide covers it all.
Who Is The Cure?
The Cure is a plague doctor-themed killer in Violence District. He is one of the most unique killers we have seen in this game. His entire playstyle revolves around infecting survivors, creating zombie-like SCPs, and controlling the map with sheer pressure. He costs 15,000 Screws to unlock from the store, so he is not cheap. But once you get him, you will quickly see why so many players are talking about him right now.
What makes The Cure special is not just his damage. It is the way his abilities stack on top of each other. The more infected survivors you have on the map, the stronger you get. This snowball effect is what separates him from every other killer in the game.

The Cure’s Abilities Explained
Understanding his abilities is the most important step. We will walk you through each one clearly.
Elucidation (Main Ability)
This is his flask throw. You charge it up for a moment, then throw it at a location. When it lands, it creates a Pestilence cloud. Any survivor caught in the cloud gets slowed by 30% and receives the Pestilence status effect. Here is the part most players miss: for every survivor you infect with Pestilence, you gain a 5% boost to your own break and vault speed. So infecting four survivors gives you a 20% personal speed boost on vaults and pallet breaks. The infection lasts 90 seconds per survivor, and the ability has a 15-second cooldown.

I Am The Cure (Secondary Ability)
This is where things get really interesting. Once a survivor is downed, you can inject them. Each injection applies a different debuff depending on their spike stage:
- Before their first spike: 4% movement speed reduction
- After their first spike: 6% repair speed reduction
- After two spikes: they turn into SCP-049-2, a zombie that roams the map and hunts other survivors
These SCPs move at 9 studs per second and go up to 15 studs per second when chasing someone already infected with Pestilence. They prioritize survivors near The Cure and apply Pestilence on hit. You can have up to 4 SCPs active at any time, but this cap can be exceeded if survivors are converted directly. This ability is what makes The Cure feel genuinely overwhelming to play against.

Unlockable Perks
The Cure also has three perks that unlock as you level him up:
- Foundation Staff (Level 15): When a survivor gets unspiked, the one who helped them suffers up to a 40% healing speed reduction. The unspiked survivor also gets a 15% repair speed penalty until healed. This perk actively punishes survivors for saving each other.
- Sustenance (Level 30): Every time you spike a survivor, you gain a token. When you break a pallet, that token triggers a 10% movement speed reduction to all survivors within your terror radius for up to 6 seconds. They also get Silenced, meaning they cannot use any perks for up to 35 seconds. This perk is arguably his best.
- Desire For The Living (Level 45): When a survivor sees your aura, you see theirs. Useful for tracking, but less impactful than the first two perks.

Best Build for The Cure
We tested a lot of builds and found that the most consistent one centers around slowing generators and controlling large areas of the map. The build we recommend focuses on using Crackdown, Buddha, Sustenance, and King Scourge together. This combination lets you apply pressure across the entire map while keeping generator progression low. Speed builds might seem tempting, but we would caution against them. The generators now progress faster than before, and if you go against a coordinated team without regression perks, you will lose quickly.
The sweet spot for The Cure is staying mobile, throwing flasks constantly, and building up your SCP army fast. The key insight we picked up after hours of testing is this: do not focus too hard on one area. Spread your pressure. Let your SCPs handle localized threats while you roam for new injections.

How to Play The Cure Effectively
Here are the core habits you need to build if you want to get the most out of this killer:
- Break pallets aggressively. Normally killers avoid this, but Elucidation’s speed boost and Sustenance’s movement slow make pallet breaks actively rewarding for The Cure.
- Keep throwing flasks. Every additional infection makes you faster on vaults and breaks. Do not save the ability; keep cycling it throughout the match.
- Spend your infection charges quickly. The more SCPs you have roaming the map, the more pressure you create without even being present.
One tip that many players are not aware of yet: you can track survivors by watching your SCPs. If a SCP starts moving in an unusual direction or toward a specific area, there is likely a survivor nearby. We use this trick constantly to find where survivors are hiding or which generators they are rushing.
The generator visual change is also worth knowing about. The tube indicators on generators now visually move up and down when a survivor is actively working on them. You can spot this from a fair distance away without needing a perk like Piercing River, which honestly makes that perk a lot less useful now.
How to Counter The Cure as a Survivor
We think it is fair to talk about the other side too. If you are playing survivor against The Cure, the most important thing is to deal with his SCPs early. The SCPs cannot respawn once killed, so stunning them with pallets removes a major part of his power permanently. Once the SCPs are gone, The Cure is essentially a basic attack killer with a slow flask. That is manageable.
Try to avoid clustered play when he has multiple SCPs active. If two survivors are near each other and both get hit with Pestilence, the SCPs will prioritize that area heavily. Spreading out forces his SCPs to split attention and reduces their overall efficiency.

Final Thoughts
The Cure is one of the strongest killers we have played in Violence District so far. He is not unbeatable, but he has a very high skill ceiling and rewards players who invest time into understanding his kit. He feels overwhelming at first because his abilities all feed into each other in a very satisfying way. The more infected survivors you have, the faster you are. The faster you are, the easier it is to spike more survivors. The more spikes you get, the more SCPs you build. It is a snowball that is genuinely difficult to stop when played well.
If you enjoy killers that require strategy and map awareness rather than pure speed, The Cure is absolutely worth the 15,000 Screw investment. We will keep updating this guide as the meta evolves, so bookmark this page and check back with us at Fans First Booyah for the latest tips.
