The MM2 community is buzzing right now, and honestly, we are right there in the middle of it. As we step deeper into June 2026, the hype around the Murder Mystery 2 summer update and the long-awaited Season 2 is reaching a boiling point. We have been watching the dev activity closely, digging through community discussions, and putting together everything we know. Here is what we think is coming and why it matters.
Is Season 2 Dropping With the Summer Update?

This is the biggest question in the community right now. We have been watching the MM2 dev team’s activity for months, and things are clearly moving fast. The map editor and asset games maintained by Zyleak have been receiving updates consistently. Even older MM2 development games that had not been touched in over a year suddenly got new activity. That is not a coincidence. When multiple dev-side tools start moving at the same time, something is close to ready.
The testing server has also been receiving updates outside of the usual workshop cycle. Nikilis even updated his own private experimental testing server, which is the version only he can access. That usually means final polish work is happening. Based on everything we have seen, it is very likely that Season 2 and the summer update could land at the same time. If that happens, we are looking at the biggest MM2 update of all time, no exaggeration.
What We Expect From the Summer Update

Summer updates in MM2 have grown significantly in scale over the past few years. We have gone from simple limited-time weapons to full lobby overhauls, battle passes, and new maps. This year should be no different. Here is what we are reasonably confident about:
- A brand new summer lobby, likely massive in scale given how active Zyleak has been with map work
- The return of fan-favorite maps Beach Resort and Yacht, which have become staples of the summer rotation
- A new limited-time summer map, with an aquarium-style setting being one of the most requested ideas in the community right now
- A summer battle pass with new knives, guns, effects, and toys
- A new summer godly at the end of the battle pass, possibly with a chroma version
- A new summer box with its own godly and chroma rewards
- Beach balls returning as the event currency for completing tiers and unboxing
One thing we want to flag here is the currency situation. If Season 2 releases alongside summer, we will almost certainly see both beach balls and coins active at the same time. Last summer only used beach balls, but a full Season 2 rollout requires coins for permanent content. Nicholas will likely run both currencies together, so start saving your coins now if you have not already.
The Godly and Weapon Situation

We know a lot of traders and collectors are waiting specifically for this. Every major MM2 event brings new godlies and chromas, and summer is no exception. Based on past patterns, we expect a battle pass godly with a chroma form at the final tier, similar to what we saw with the Sunset Godly knife last summer. The box godly will likely follow the same structure we saw with Sunrise last year.
There is also a real chance we see something bigger this cycle. It has been over a year since we saw an ancient-tier item in a battle pass. The last one was Celestial back in Christmas 2024. Nicholas might bring ancients back for either the battle pass or the box this summer, especially if this update is as large as we think it is.
On the weapons side, we also expect to see one of the following:
- A summer bundle with chroma chances, priced around 1,699 Robux
- Or a summer EVO item, where you spend Robux and grind to evolve it from rare up to ancient tier
We personally hope for the EVO route since it rewards time in the game, not just spending.
New Features We Might See
The Christmas 2025 update set a very high bar for MM2 events. It brought back event crafting, introduced quests, and added a snowball fight bonus round. We think the summer update will build on all of that.
Summer quests feel almost certain at this point. The key question is whether they will be grind-based or pay-to-win. Since this is a main event, Nicholas will likely require you to collect beach balls in rounds to progress your quest. That is better for the community because it keeps people in the game and rewards actual playtime. We would also love to see summer crafting return, where unboxing certain items lets you craft exclusive untradeable effects. That feature drove a lot of engagement during Christmas and it would work really well with a summer theme.
A summer bonus round is also on the table. A volleyball-style round where two teams compete would fit perfectly with the beach and summer atmosphere. It would also give a fun new use for the volleyball toy introduced last summer.
What About the Fake Leaks?

We have to be straight with you here. There are a lot of fake accounts and fake leaks floating around right now, especially on TikTok. Several accounts have claimed to be official MM2 sources, posting countdowns, map removal announcements, and even game mode reveals. We have checked, and none of these are affiliated with the actual MM2 team. The real developers are Nikilis, Zyleak, and a small core team. None of them have posted any direct Season 2 spoilers publicly. Be careful about what you trust. If it looks too specific and too hyped, it is probably fake.
Our Honest Take
We think the MM2 summer 2026 update is going to be massive. The dev team has clearly been putting in serious work, and all the signs point to something big dropping within the next few weeks. Whether it comes with a full Season 2 launch or just a huge summer event on its own, we are genuinely excited. Save your coins, keep an eye on the dev accounts, and stay away from the fake leak accounts. When this drops, we will cover everything right here.
