Firefly in Grow a Garden 2 Roblox – How to Get It, Price, and What It Does

Roblox’s Grow a Garden 2 keeps adding new pets that change how we plan our farms, and the Firefly is the latest one worth talking about. It landed on July 12, 2026, and within hours players were already asking how to catch one and whether it’s worth the grind. We’ve put together everything we know about this glowing little bug, from its price to its actual in-game value.

What Is the Firefly in Grow a Garden 2

The Firefly is a Mythic-rarity pet that joined the game as part of a bigger content drop. It arrived alongside Sun Bloom, Star Fruit, and the new Eclipse Weather Event, plus two fresh mutations called Glow and Eclipsed. If you want the full breakdown of that update’s other headline addition, we already covered it in our guide on how to get Eclipse Bloom seed in Grow a Garden 2.

Visually, the Firefly looks exactly like its name suggests. It is a small glowing creature that hovers around the map rather than sitting still like most farm pets. That constant movement is actually tied to how its ability works, which we’ll get into shortly. Worth noting here is that a Firefly already existed in the original Grow a Garden, but that version worked completely differently, applying a Shocked mutation to nearby fruit. The Grow a Garden 2 Firefly shares the name and the glow, but not the mechanics. Treat it as a separate pet entirely.

How to Get the Firefly

There are two ways to add a Firefly to your collection, and neither of them is guaranteed. It can spawn randomly anywhere on the map, or you can buy it outright for 3,000,000 Sheckles once it appears. The catch is the spawn rate itself, which sits at just 0.6 percent. That number puts it firmly in “rare find” territory, so we wouldn’t recommend farming specifically for it unless you’re patient.

A few things genuinely help improve your odds:

  • Play on quieter, less populated servers so fewer players are racing you for the same spawn.
  • Keep the Owl pet equipped, since it hoots loudly whenever a rare pet appears somewhere on the map.
  • Move quickly once you hear that hoot and head straight for the location before anyone else claims it.
  • Have your Sheckles ready in advance, because hesitation usually means losing the pet to a faster player.

Since the Firefly can be purchased directly once spotted, this isn’t a luck-based hatching situation like some other pets. It’s closer to a race. Whoever reaches the spawn point first and pays the asking price walks away with it, so timing matters more than anything else.

What the Firefly Actually Does

This is where the Firefly separates itself from most other pets in Grow a Garden 2. Its ability isn’t about growth speed or defense. It flies around and increases the size of every newly planted crop, and this effect applies to the entire server, not just your own garden. Every player benefits the moment a Firefly is active and someone plants something new.

Each equipped Firefly adds a 2 percent size bonus. That bonus stacks if multiple players have Fireflies equipped at once, up to a hard cap of 50 percent. This makes the Firefly less of a personal upgrade and more of a shared community buff, which is a fairly unusual design choice for this game. Bigger size on crops translates directly into higher sale value, so a server with several active Fireflies becomes noticeably more profitable for everyone farming at that moment.

One detail worth remembering is that the bonus only applies at the moment of planting. If your crop is already growing before a Firefly starts flying around, it won’t retroactively gain size. So timing your planting sessions around Firefly activity actually matters if you want to squeeze out the full benefit.

Firefly Variants and Rainbow Moon

Like most pets in this game, the Firefly comes in different size tiers, and each one scales up the base ability. Here’s how the bonus changes across variants:

  • Normal Firefly: adds 2 percent plant size per equipped pet.
  • Big Firefly: adds 4 percent plant size per equipped pet.
  • Mega Firefly: adds 6 percent plant size per equipped pet.

There’s also a rarer version to watch for. During the Rainbow Moon event, a Firefly has a 2 percent chance to spawn in its Rainbow form instead of the normal one. Rainbow variants generally carry more prestige and trade value in Grow a Garden 2, so catching one during a Rainbow Moon window is a genuine stroke of luck rather than something you can plan for reliably.

Is the Firefly Worth Getting

Honestly, it depends on how you play. If you’re grinding solo and mostly care about your own garden’s output, the Firefly’s server-wide effect means you’re sharing the benefit with strangers just as much as you’re gaining it yourself. That’s a fair trade if you’re active on populated servers where multiple Fireflies might be stacked at once.

If you play mostly on private or low-population servers, the pet loses some of its punch, since you’re less likely to see the bonus stack up meaningfully. Still, at 3,000,000 Sheckles, it’s not an unreasonable price for a Mythic pet, and the passive nature of the ability means you don’t have to actively manage anything once it’s equipped.

For guild-focused players or anyone chasing high-value crop farming during weather events like the Eclipse Weather Event, having a Firefly on hand adds a small but real edge. It won’t replace pets built for growth speed or defense, but as a size booster that helps everyone around you, it fills a role nothing else in the game currently covers.
