Anime Expeditions Sovereign (Sinbad) – How to Get and Evolve This Secret Unit Fast

Sovereign is one of the standout additions in Anime Expeditions Update 2.0, and players have been rushing to add it to their squads. This unit is based on Sinbad from Magi: Adventure of Sinbad, and it carries Secret rarity, which places it among the rarest units currently available in the game. Unlike most units, we cannot pull Sovereign from a normal summon banner. It comes through a dedicated crafting path, and that alone tells us how valuable Fans First Booyah, and every serious player, considers this unit to be.

In its base form, Sovereign does not offer much on the battlefield. The real power shows up once we evolve it into Sovereign (Djinn). At that stage, the unit gains freeze attacks and chain lightning strikes that jump between multiple enemies, making it a genuine threat against both waves and bosses.

How to get Sovereign (Sinbad)

The path to Sovereign runs through the Crafting Station. We need four Djinn’s Treasure items to craft the Sovereign’s Portal, and that portal is what eventually rewards us with the unit. Djinn’s Treasure only drops from the Tier 5 Summer Portal, so our first job is reaching tier five before anything else matters.

Getting to tier five is not too difficult if we stay consistent. Every portal run gives roughly a 40 percent chance to push us up a tier, so most players clear this stretch in well under an hour. Bringing a friend along speeds things up further, since a stronger team clears waves faster and gives us more attempts in less time.

Once we are sitting at tier five, augmenting the portal becomes the smartest move. A base portal only offers a small chance at Djinn’s Treasure, but a fully augmented one nearly doubles that chance. Rather than clicking through the augment menu manually every single run, we can turn on auto-augment in the settings and let the game handle it. Setting the target augment level to three and the minimum portal tier to five keeps the system focused only on tier five runs, so we are not wasting gold augmenting a portal we plan to leave behind.

A useful tip here: keep an eye on your gold reserve before starting this grind. Auto augment pulls gold automatically, and running out mid-grind interrupts the whole cycle. Stocking up beforehand saves us from constant menu checks.

Evolving Sovereign into Sovereign (Djinn)

Getting the base Sovereign unit is only half the journey. To unlock its true potential, we need to evolve it into Sovereign (Djinn). This evolution requires a mix of Sprites, Gold, and a Lightning Emblem. Grey Sprites can substitute for the crafting requirement if we are short on regular Sprites, giving us a bit of flexibility.

The Lightning Emblem is available through the Summer Fish Fest Event shop, and it costs 10,000 Sand Dollars. Sand Dollars come from completing event quests and collecting daily login rewards throughout the update, so players who stay active through the season naturally accumulate what they need without extra grinding.

Understanding Sovereign (Djinn)’s Kit

Once evolved, Sovereign switches between two forms depending on whether a boss is within its attack range. When there is no boss nearby, it fights in Lightning Djinn mode. Each attack creates five lightning chains, and every chain deals a solid portion of the unit’s current damage. These chains bounce between enemies, which makes Sovereign excellent for clearing groups. If only one enemy remains, all the chains simply focus that single target instead, so damage never goes to waste.

The moment a boss enters range, Sovereign shifts into Nine Tailed Fox Djinn mode. Damage output rises noticeably in this state, and attacks apply freeze to the boss. Once the freeze wears off, the unit automatically targets the boss again and applies a permanent slow effect that cannot stack further.

On top of these two modes, Sovereign carries a passive called Jin’s Judgement. Every seven seconds, it calls down a lightning strike on the strongest enemy in range. That strike deals heavy damage and chains between additional enemies nearby, adding even more consistent output over time.

Players testing max-upgraded Sovereign with its Unbound trait have reported damage numbers reaching well into the millions against tough enemies. That kind of output places Sovereign among the strongest boss killers currently in the game.

Tips to Get Sovereign Faster

  • Farm the Tier 5 Summer Portal consistently instead of switching between activities.
  • Keep auto augment running so every portal run has the best possible odds.
  • Team up with friends for quicker clears and steadier progress.
  • Save Sand Dollars early, so the Lightning Emblem is ready once you unlock the base unit.

Final Thoughts

Sovereign takes patience to unlock, but the payoff is real. Its chain lightning, freeze application, and boss-focused damage make it one of the strongest units introduced this update. Anyone building a serious tower defense lineup in Anime Expeditions should treat this grind as a priority rather than an afterthought.
