Steal an Egg Mounts Update – How to Get Stars and Ride Pets

Steal an Egg just got a big shake-up. Update 8 landed on October 10, 2026, and it lets us ride our pets for the first time. We tested the new systems and gathered everything you need to know. Here is how mounts work, how to get Stars, and what to expect next.

What the Mounts Update Adds

Update 8 adds rideable pets, a new Star Handler NPC at spawn, and a short racing event. Players first heard about the update at the end of the Enchanted Forest cutscene. It’s now live, and the change feels bigger than a simple cosmetic.

Before this update, we ran between biomes on foot. Now any pet in our collection can carry us. That makes egg runs feel fresher, even if the core loop stays the same.

The update also brings a Win Pass with five new pets. We unlock them through win milestones in the racing event. That gives us a reason to keep racing after the first run.

How to Get Mount Stars

Every mount needs one Star. There are two ways to get them, each suited to a different type of player.

  • Star Drop event: Every night, a small chance triggers a falling star. Each player on the server gets their own.
  • Star Handler shop: We can buy 1, 3, or 5 Stars with Robux. The weekly cap is five Stars for 1,399 Robux.

The Star Drop is the free route. The game checks for it about every five minutes at night. That means we may wait a while, but patience pays off. Each server runs its own event, so a drop in one server does not affect another.

Here is the catch. We must be in the server from the start of that in-game day. Server hopping to hunt for the event will not work. We tried this idea early on, and the game simply does not count us.

Players who buy Stars can only grab five per week. That limit resets every Saturday. If you plan to buy, time your purchase right after the reset.

How to Turn a Pet Into a Mount

The process is simple. We pick up the Star, walk to the pet in our base, and activate it. The pet becomes a mount at once. The Star disappears after use.

Two details matter a lot here. First, the change is permanent. We cannot undo it, so we should think before we use a Star. Second, a mounted pet can still sit in our pen. We do not lose its income, which is a nice surprise.

One more point may save you some frustration. A mount does not run faster just because the pet earns more per second. We should not waste a Star on our best earner expecting extra speed. A cheaper pet that we enjoy riding works just as well.

The Mount Race Event

The update opens with a short race that doubles as a tutorial. It plays like a Mario Kart-style course, and it is fun once we learn the rules. Mounts have a wide turning radius, so we need to plan our turns early.

The track throws several hazards at us:

  • Tentacles that stop us in our tracks
  • Fire patches that cost us time
  • Eggs on the course that slow us down

Our advice is to take wide lines and stay away from the edges. Hitting a hazard late in the race costs more than losing a few seconds on a clean corner. We also suggest smashing through the safe obstacles, since they do not slow us down.

Finishing the race rewards us with a pet. In our run, we received a Secret Rainbow Ostrich earning 1.8 billion per second. That is a strong payout for a tutorial race, so we recommend finishing it right away.

Mistakes to Avoid With Mounts

We noticed a few traps that new players may fall into. Avoiding them saves time and Robux.

  • Do not spend Robux before you try the free Star Drop
  • Do not use a Star on a pet you plan to fuse or trade soon
  • Do not leave the server during the day if you want a free Star

The middle point deserves extra thought. Since the conversion is permanent, we suggest picking a pet we plan to keep long term. A mount we like riding also beats a mount that only looks rare on paper.

Is the Mounts Update Worth It?

We think so, with one honest note. The mount feature is more about fun than raw power. It does not boost income, and it does not make eggs easier to steal. It changes how the game feels, and that matters to a lot of players.

The free Star route also keeps the system fair. Players who do not want to spend Robux still get a path to a mount. The weekly Robux cap prevents anyone from buying a full stable in a day.

We also see a smart design choice here. Since each player gets a personal Star, nobody fights over drops. That keeps the event relaxed, which suits a game built around stealing.

What Comes Next: Halloween Dimension

The patch notes tease a Halloween Dimension expansion for next week. The developers describe it as a large, two-part event with a new dimension to explore. The update also hints at new rewards tied to the season.

If we want to be ready, we should save a few Stars and collect pets now. Seasonal events in this game tend to reward players who log in early and often. We will cover the Halloween update as soon as it goes live.

Final Thoughts

Update 8 gives Steal an Egg a fresh feature without breaking the old formula. We get rideable pets, a fun race, and a fair free route to earn Stars. Our tip is simple. Play at night, stay in one server, and choose your mount with care.
