Mutations add a fun twist to Ride a Dino on Roblox. A mutated dino looks different, sells for more, and earns more cash every second. We checked the latest guides to build one clear breakdown. Below, we cover every mutation, the size bonuses that stack with them, and smart ways to catch rare dinos.
What mutations do in Ride a Dino

Ride a Dino has five mutations. They are Silver, Golden, Rainbow, Magma, and Spectral. Each one raises a dino’s sale value and its earning rate. Your pen pays you every second, so a mutated dino keeps rewarding you long after the catch.
A dino can only carry one mutation at a time. It can also spawn in a size variant, and then the two bonuses add together. A Golden Big dino gives a 3x multiplier, which is 1.5 plus 1.5. This matters more than most players think. The top sizes often beat the mutations, so size deserves your attention too.
How to get all the mutations
You cannot buy or craft mutations. They appear on wild dinos at random, so exploring is the only way. Here is every mutation and where we can find it.

| Mutation | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Silver | Spawns randomly in all biomes with a high chance. Gives 1.25x sale value and earnings. |
| Golden | Spawns randomly in all biomes with a high chance. Gives 1.5x sale value and earnings. |
| Rainbow | Spawns randomly in all biomes with a low chance. Gives 2.25x sale value and earnings. |
| Magma | Latest in the list. Spawns randomly, but only in certain biomes. Gives 4x sale value and earnings. |
The game has nine biomes, from the plains and desert to the jungle, snow, and the cosmic zone at the end. Silver and Golden spawn everywhere, so new players can start collecting them early. Rainbow takes more patience. Magma is the best mutation right now, so scan every new zone you reach.
the Meteor Shower event raises spawn chances. so, we suggest hunting while it runs. Spectral exists in the game data but players cannot get it yet. Check back after future updates.
Size multipliers that stack with mutations
Sizes work the same way as mutations. Every size except Tiny boosts your income. Here is how they compare:
- Tiny: 0.25x, which is weaker than a normal dino
- Big: 1.5x
- Giant: 3x
- Huge: 5x
- Colossal: 10x
Do the math and the picture gets interesting. A Magma Colossal dino reaches 14x, the highest combo we can find. A Silver Colossal still hits 11.25x. That beats a plain-sized Magma dino at 4x by a wide margin. We would never skip a huge dino just because it lacks a fancy mutation.
How the Fuse Machine helps
The Fuse Machine stands in the middle of the Safe Zone. Place three dinos of the same type inside and press Fuse. You get a chance at a bigger, Giant version. It is the best route to Giant dinos, and it needs no stamina.
Fusion is not guaranteed. The dinos you submit get used up. So we fuse spare duplicates only. Keep the copies you need for pen income and your Index.
Tips to catch mutated dinos
Capturing rare dinos comes down to stamina. If your stamina beats the dino’s strength, you win the capture. Strength depends on the dino’s rarity and its zone. Each dino shows a required number, so check it before you jump.
Stamina resets every time you jump to a new dino. Hop between smaller dinos to stay alive, then aim for your target. Our favorite habits are below:
- Upgrade the Dino Machine first, since it builds stamina every second
- Check the required stamina before every jump
- Use Jurassic Airlines, a Robux purchase, to fast travel to far biomes
- Save the late zones for when your stamina reaches the millions
Late zones get brutal. One run needed 10 million stamina for a single Spinosaurus, and cosmic dinos asked for far more. Do not burn your resources on dinos you cannot catch yet.
Final thoughts
Mutations reward patient players. Chase Magma for the best mutation, but chase size just as hard. A Colossal dino with a basic mutation can beat a rare mutation on a small body. Keep fusing spare duplicates, keep training stamina.
