Grow a Garden 2 Unicorn Pet Guide – Ability, How to Get, and Pro Tips (Roblox)

The Unicorn is one of the most talked-about pets in Grow a Garden 2 right now, and for good reason. We have been farming in the game since launch, and we can confidently say this Mythic-rarity pet is among the best investments you can make. If you are serious about earning Sheckles consistently, you need to understand what the Unicorn does and how to get your hands on one. Let us break it all down for you.

What Is the Unicorn in Grow a Garden 2?

The Unicorn is a Mythic-rarity utility pet in Grow a Garden 2. It trots around your garden and doubles the chance for your plants and fruit to gain the Rainbow mutation. That one line does not sound like much until you understand what the Rainbow mutation actually means for your earnings.

The Rainbow mutation applies a 30x value multiplier to any crop it lands on. It can be randomly applied during regular gameplay or while the Rainbow event is active. So imagine a crop that normally sells for a few thousand Sheckles suddenly becoming worth thirty times more. The Unicorn makes that happen far more frequently than it would without the pet. This is not a situational bonus. It works passively at all times, every single session.

Gold and Rainbow are the only two mutations that can appear through standard random chance during normal grow cycles, outside of any weather event. This is what makes the Unicorn so special. Most high-value mutations are locked to specific events that last only a few minutes. The Unicorn keeps working for you in between those events, during ordinary farming sessions when nothing special is happening on the server.

What Is the Unicorn’s Ability?

If you equip a Unicorn as an active pet, you will get its special buff. Equipping multiple Unicorns will stack the same buff. This is a huge detail that many players miss. You are not limited to one Unicorn in your pet slots. If you manage to get two or three, the Rainbow mutation chance stacks with each one. That means you are dramatically increasing your odds of seeing Rainbow crops on almost every harvest cycle.

Here is a quick summary of what you get from the Unicorn:

  • Rarity: Mythic
  • Ability: Doubles the chance for crops and fruit to gain the Rainbow mutation
  • The buff is always active and requires no special trigger
  • Stacks when multiple Unicorns are equipped in your active pet slots

We also want to point out how this compares to the Golden Dragonfly, which doubles the chance for the Gold mutation. The Golden Dragonfly costs 3 million Sheckles and doubles the Gold mutation chance, which gives a 10x multiplier. The Unicorn costs more but the Rainbow mutation delivers a 30x multiplier, making it three times more valuable per crop. If your goal is raw income, the Unicorn wins every time.

How to Get the Unicorn in Grow a Garden 2

There are two ways to get the Unicorn, each with its own challenges.

The first method is the overworld spawn. You can encounter a Unicorn spawn on the overworld and buy it for 12,000,000 Sheckles. The pet spawns only remain active for a short while, making it crucial to buy it as soon as possible. The odds of it spawning on the map are an extremely low 0.71%. So when one appears, you need to react fast. Other players on your server will rush toward it, too. We recommend equipping the Owl pet in one of your slots before you have the Unicorn, since the Owl alerts you whenever a rare pet spawns on the map.

The second method involves eggs. The Common Egg can only be obtained through Guild competition rewards. This requires you to be part of a Guild, though your Guild’s ranking in the competition does not affect eligibility. Even if your Guild is at the lowest ranking, you will receive at least five Common Eggs. The maximum is 25 Common Eggs per competition. From a Common Egg, the Unicorn has a 0.3% chance to hatch.

That hatch rate is low, but here is the important part: since Guild competitions run weekly, you will always have a steady supply of Common Eggs. Over time, you are bound to hatch a Unicorn through this method. If you are not already in a Guild, joining one is one of the smartest moves you can make in this game. You do not need to be in a competitive Guild. Just being a member and participating gives you access to these eggs.

Size Variants: Big and Huge Unicorns

Like other pets in the game, the Unicorn also has rare size variants. Big and Huge variants are exceptionally rare and can occasionally be hatched directly from Eggs. There are also Rainbow variants, which significantly improve the overall stats of a pet’s base ability.

If you are lucky enough to hatch a Big or Huge Unicorn, that is an extremely valuable outcome. As of mid-June 2026, only around 650 players own a Huge Pet across the entire game, making it the rarest pet variant available. Getting a Huge Unicorn would make you one of the rarest pet owners in Grow a Garden 2.

Tips for Maximizing Your Unicorn

Now that you have your Unicorn, here is how we recommend using it to get the most out of the Rainbow mutation boost.

First, always keep the Unicorn in your active pet slot. The buff is passive, but it only works when the pet is equipped and active. Do not bench it for situational pets unless you have a specific reason.

Second, try to stack multiple Unicorns if you can afford them or hatch them from Common Eggs over time. Each additional Unicorn in your active slots doubles the Rainbow chance again. With two or three running at once, your Rainbow crop rate becomes noticeably higher during a standard farming session.

Third, do not ignore weather events. The Unicorn applies the Rainbow mutation independently of any weather event. If you are farming for consistent mid-tier mutation income between events, the Unicorn is the most reliable tool available right now. But weather events like Lightning and Starfall still deliver the highest multipliers in the game, so be ready to harvest during those windows too.

Finally, grow crops with a high base sell price. A 30x multiplier on a low-value crop still gives you a moderate payout. But that same multiplier on a premium crop can earn you millions of Sheckles from a single harvest.

Is the Unicorn Worth It?

We get this question a lot, and our answer is yes, absolutely. The 12 million Sheckle price tag looks intimidating, but the Unicorn pays for itself over time through consistent Rainbow mutation triggers. No other pet in the game gives you passive income boosts between events as reliably as this one does.
