Anime Expeditions Gohan (Prodigy) Guide – Fastest Way to Get and Evolve Him

The Warriors Saga update has landed in Anime Expeditions, and it brought one of the strongest secret units the game has seen so far. Gohan is a physical damage dealer with a transformation system that scales hard the longer a fight goes on. We have farmed him ourselves and put together everything you need to grab him without wasting time on the wrong grind.

Where To Find Gohan And Start His Quest

You need to enter any act of the new East Town story before you can even see Gohan. Head into the enemy spawn area on the map and move past the blue car on the right side. Gohan stands near that spot as the Prodigy NPC.

Talk to him and select View Quest to start his questline. You can pin the quest right away so it stays visible while you play other modes.

His questline has five separate objectives, and none of them are hidden behind guesswork once you know the order. Here is what you are working toward:

  • Clear 150 waves using Bio Insect and Goku
  • Complete the East Town mastery map once
  • Beat the East Town difficulty three boss node
  • Collect 350 mechanical scrap in expedition mode
  • Finish one tournament and complete the Prodigy trial

The mechanical scrap and the boss node both sit inside the expedition game mode, so it makes sense to knock them out together instead of switching maps back and forth.

The Fastest Way To Clear 150 Waves

Most players default to infinite mode for wave clears, but that is not the quickest route here. Place Bio Insect and Goku in the King’s Tomb mastery stage instead. Since only bosses spawn in that mode, waves clear in roughly ninety seconds per run. Running it around ten times gets you the full 150 waves without the long stretches infinite mode usually demands. Keep both units equipped the entire time, since the quest tracks wave clears specifically while they are on your team.

Beating The Difficulty Three Boss Node

This step trips up more players than anything else in the questline. The boss node sits at the end of the East Town difficulty three expedition, and it will not take damage until you clear out its minions first. Bring your four strongest damage dealers along with two farm units, and save yen for the checkpoint. That checkpoint lets you recruit extra units mid-run, so pull in as many as you can afford. More bodies on the field mean the minions die faster, which leaves the boss exposed to actual damage.

Set your team to boss priority once the minions are cleared; otherwise your units keep targeting the wrong enemies, and the fight drags on far longer than it should. Once you clear this node the first time, the boss node objective for the quest is done for good, even though you still need to grind scrap afterward.

Farming 350 Mechanical Scrap Efficiently

This objective takes the longest by far, but the method matters more than raw playtime. Every expedition run generates a random path with three or four nodes visible up front, each carrying its own scrap value. Instead of pushing all the way to the final node every run, only look at the first three nodes. If the total scrap across them looks low, hit restart immediately and reroll the path. If you land two or three good nodes in a row, clear them, collect the scrap, then restart again.

This restart loop beats grinding straight through to the boss node every single time, since a full run takes several minutes while a scrap-focused restart cycle takes closer to three. We compared this against playing every node to completion, and the restart method finished the objective in a fraction of the time. Difficulty two and three give nearly identical scrap amounts, so there is no real reason to force difficulty three runs if difficulty two nodes look better on a given reroll.

Clearing The Tournament And Prodigy Trial

The tournament objective is the easiest step in the whole quest. Enter any tournament from the lobby, place a unit or two, and let the match play out until you lose. There is no need to win, and staying AFK works fine as long as you do not leave the match early.

The Prodigy trial takes more setup. You need to clear it twice, once for the quest itself and a second time to unlock Gohan’s evolution item. Build your farms first, then stack Doofy and shield breaker units near the front to handle the boss’s heavy shield count. Place slower units to control enemy speed and keep a hero on shielded priority throughout. The leaks near the end cause more trouble than the boss itself, so keep units in reserve to clean up stragglers once the boss dies.

If you already cleared a different secret unit’s trial, like the process for Zeref, this same principle of shield management and farm-first setup carries over well. Our full breakdown on that unit sits in our guide on getting and evolving Zeref.

Is Gohan Worth The Grind

Once fully upgraded, Gohan deals damage to every enemy in his range every third attack, and that output only grows as his Prodigy meter fills. His ultimate ability hits everything in a chosen area every second for 10 straight seconds, shredding high-health bosses fast. The full questline realistically takes under two hours for most players, and the payoff makes him one of the strongest units currently available in Anime Expeditions.
