The Astral Observatory update has given Fisch players a whole new sky to explore, and one of the biggest rewards hiding inside it is the Meteoric Rod. This rod comes from a multi-stage questline handed out by Astral Matthew in the Northern Expedition, and it rewards patient players with strong stats once the grind is done. We have broken the entire process down below so you know exactly what to gather and where to go.
Where to Find Astral Matthew
Head straight to the Northern Expedition and look for the elevated frigid area on the map. Astral Matthew sits higher up than most players expect, so jump up the platforms until you spot him. Talking to him kicks off the questline, and from there he splits the requirements into two separate stages. Each stage asks for a small batch of materials, and turning them all in unlocks the next step automatically.
First Stage Requirements
The opening stage asks for a Cosmic Relic, a Moonstone, and either a Solar Blaze or a Nova Frozen War Net. None of these are handed to you directly, so you need to hunt for them across different parts of the map.

For the Cosmic Relic, use a Starfall Totem to trigger a meteor shower. Once a meteor lands, a pink beam shoots into the sky from the impact point. Walk toward that beam and pick up the relic sitting on the ground. It sounds tricky at first, but the beam is visible from a good distance, so you rarely lose track of it.
Moonstone is easier to source. You can pull it from your item aquarium if you already have the right fish stocked, buy it from the Daily Shop when it rotates in, or wait for a Meteor Totem drop. We recommend checking your aquarium first since most players already have the ingredients without realizing it.
The last item in this stage gives you a choice. Fish in the Overgrown Canal using Starlight Worm bait to get a Frozen War Net, or aim for Solar Blaze during an active eclipse. Aurora also works as a substitute for the Nova version if eclipses are not lining up with your schedule. Once you have all three items, return to Astral Matthew to move on.
Clearing Fallen Meteors

The second stage opens with a cleanup task. You need to clear fallen meteors scattered around Northern Expedition, and a pickaxe makes this far faster than trying to break them by hand. Look for blue star markers on the ground since these mark meteor locations before you even get close. Walking the area methodically saves time here rather than sprinting between random spots.
Getting Quartz Glass
Quartz Glass is fished up inside a hidden area near the cryogenic zone, and this is the part where a lot of players get stuck simply because the entrance is easy to miss. Reach the bridge in that region, drop all the way down, and push through the dark passage underneath it. The fishing spot sits right past that opening. Once inside, cast your line and wait for the glass to bite.
Collecting the Remaining Materials

With the glass secured, Matthew asks for five Solar Blaze next. Equip garbage bait and fish during an eclipse in either Crimson Key or Tidal Fall. Both locations work equally well, so pick whichever one is closer to your current spawn point. The final requirement is one of every gemstone type, which you can pull from your item aquarium or from a Meteor Totem drop. Between the two, the aquarium tends to be the quicker route if your stock is already built up.
Here is a quick recap of everything the full questline demands:
- One Cosmic Relic from a fallen star
- One Moonstone from the aquarium, shop, or totem
- One Solar Blaze or Nova Frozen War Net
- Cleared meteors around Northern Expedition
- One Quartz Glass from the hidden cryogenic passage
- Five Solar Blaze during an eclipse
- One of every gemstone type
Turning In the Quest and Claiming the Rod
Once every item on the list is in your inventory, head back to Astral Matthew in the frigid area and hand everything over. He rewards you with the Meteoric Rod on the spot. The rod comes with 75 percent lure speed, 175 percent luck, 0.05 control, 25 percent resilience, and a max weight capacity of 550,000 kg. Those luck and weight numbers make it one of the stronger midtier options added in this update, especially useful if you are chasing rarer catches during active server events.
Is the Grind Worth It
The questline is longer than most rod quests in Fisch, but each stage is manageable if you tackle the materials one at a time instead of trying to gather everything at once. Focus on the eclipse-dependent items whenever the event is active, since waiting for the right timing is usually what slows players down the most. Everything else can be farmed on your own schedule without much pressure.
If you are chasing every new rod from this update, the Meteoric Rod pairs well with the tougher questline behind the Rod of the Singularity, which involves catching secret fish from five hidden areas across the map. Working through both questlines together saves you repeat trips to the same regions, since several materials and totems overlap between them.
