The Oppressor Rod is one of the strongest new rods from the Venue Encore update in Fisch. We cannot buy it. We have to earn it through a long quest line with a hidden NPC. In this guide, we cover the full route, the stats, and a few tips that save time.
If you like rods tied to Ken Carson, also read our Xorcist Rod guide for Fisch. Both quests start in the same venue.
What Makes the Oppressor Rod Worth the Grind
This rod arrives restricted. We must finish three quests to get it. Then we must finish a fourth quest and pay a big fee to unlock its full power. That is a lot of work, so we should know what we get in return.
The stats are strong, especially lure speed and progress speed. Control is only 0.1, so the rod relies on speed instead of precision. Here are the full numbers:

- Lure Speed: 300%
- Luck: 310%
- Control: 0.1
- Resilience: 35%
- Max Weight: infinite
- Progress Speed: +55%
- Disturbance: +5
How to Find Tormentor NPC in Fisch

Tormentor hides inside a secret auditorium. It connects to the Underground Music Venue. We cannot walk in. We need a trick and some preparation.
Head into the venue and find Ken Carson on the stage. Look to his left. A black guitar sits there. It is the Duskwire Rod, and it works as a secret teleport.
The teleport only works during the Tropical Squall weather event. We can skip the wait with a Tropical Squall Totem. Elder Kaido sells it for 800,000 C$. His shop sits on Skycrest and changes every week. If the totem is missing, we must wait for the next rotation.
Follow these steps once we have the totem:
- Use the Tropical Squall Totem from the inventory.
- Equip our own Duskwire Rod.
- Return to the venue and click the guitar near the stage.
- Talk to Tormentor inside the blue auditorium.
There is one more catch. Tormentor ignores us unless we wear the Dusk title. We unlock it by finishing the Duskwire Rod mastery. That means 200 perfect catches with the Duskwire.
We suggest earning the title first. Many players burn their totem and arrive unprepared. Then they leave with nothing. Do the mastery, then pop the totem.
Quest One: Chaotic Resurgence
The first quest asks for a mix of rare catches. We need these items:
- 2 Shiny Chaotic Catfish
- 1 Mourned Wyvern
- 3 Darkened Enchant Relics
- 1 Chaotic Enchant Relic
For the catfish, use the Duskwire Rod with a Blessed or Invincible enchant. Worm bait helps. Fishing on a foggy night raises our odds too. For the Mourned Wyvern, use the Tidemourner Rod with a Long enchant and Truffle Worm bait.
The relics come next. Use the Depthseeker Rod with the Relic Construct companion for the Darkened ones. Then switch to the Duskwire Rod for the Chaotic one. Keep the same companion equipped.
Here is a time saver. Collect all three Darkened Relics first. Then swap rods once for the Chaotic Relic. This saves us from switching gear again and again.
Quest Two: Road of Revenant Carcasses
Tormentor now gives us three riddles. Each one points to a specific fish. We solve them like this:
- Monstrous Legionnaire Lamprey: use the Cusk Purger Rod.
- Titanium Leviathan: use the Titanium Rod with a Fractured or Tryhard enchant.
- Sparkling Distraught Revenant Eel: use the Dreambreaker Rod with a Blessed or Glittered enchant.
We will visit Tormentor many times. Save his spot with a Mystic Mirror before leaving. It turns every return trip into a quick teleport.
Quest Three: Divergent Perceptions
This quest needs a Distraught Veiled Charybdis, a Squalled String, and a Fallen Scylla. The Dreambreaker Rod catches the Charybdis. Give it a Fractured or Cryogenic enchant. Luminous Larva bait boosts our chances.

For the Squalled String, travel to Desolate Deep. Use the Abaia’s Spite Rod with Garbage bait. For the Fallen Scylla, use the Fallen Rod with Shark Head bait.
Notice how often the Dreambreaker Rod appears. We use it in quest two and quest three. Keep it ready, and carry both enchants we need. Hand the catches to Tormentor, and we receive the restricted Oppressor Rod.
How to Unrestrict the Oppressor Rod
The rod stays weak until we finish the Impermanent Distress quest. It has four tasks:
- Catch 1 Fallen Skolopendra.
- Catch an Olympian Devil with the Duskwire Rod and no companion.
- Catch 35 Legendary or Mythical fish with the Oppressed mutation in Crystal Cove.
- Parry 75 projectiles.
The Olympian Devil task removes our companion, so do not skip that detail. Many players forget to unequip it. The Oppressed fish task will likely take the longest. Work on it while we wait for other goals.
Return to Tormentor after all four tasks. Pay 70,000,000 C$ to remove the restrictions.
Our Final Tips Before You Start
Count the full cost before we begin. The totem costs 800,000 C$. The unlock fee costs 70 million. We should start saving early, because the last payment is the real wall.
Gather the rods and enchants in advance. Most of the quest line is a shopping list of catches. Planning our gear saves hours. Take it one quest at a time. With the right prep, this rod becomes one of the best late-game options in Fisch.
