How to Get the Black Fairy Rod in Fisch – Draven Quest Answers, Stats and Soul Passive Guide

The Venue Encore update added several new rods to Fisch, and the Black Fairy Rod looks like the toughest grind of the batch. Draven gives you five riddle quests, each demanding specific fish, mutations, or hidden items. We broke down every answer below so you can plan your route and skip wasted catches. If you also chase venue rods, read our guide to getting the D.R.E.D. rod in Fisch after this one.

How to Start the Black Fairy Rod Quest in Fisch

Travel to the underground music venue and find Draven. He stands across from Trice. Talk to him and accept his offer to help. That starts the questline.

Two requirements matter before you begin. You need level 1,000 and 53 million coins for the final quest. Save those coins early. The last step blocks you without them.

Quest 1: Where Roots Dream

The first quest has six riddles. Five need fish with the right mutation, and one needs a hidden item. Here is each answer and where to find it.

  • Translucent Rotwood Perch: fish in Everturn Forest with Coral bait, ideally in Autumn.
  • Mossy Ancient Wood: fish around Sunstone Island.
  • Rotting Gem Blobfish: fish at Treasure Island with Crab Cages or Golden Shrimp Bait.
  • Shiny Depths Key: fish at Vertigo’s Dip during the day.
  • Ocean’s Ruin Rotbloom: fish the Rotbloom Hunt pool in Toxic Grove.
  • Wooden Plank: search beside a sunken ship east of Castaway Cliffs at 883.1, 31.8, -1928.2.

Mutations decide how long this quest takes. The Ghastly enchantment guarantees Translucent, and the Spiritbinder rod gives a 90% chance. Mossy and Rotting cannot be appraised. You must catch them with the Elder Mossripper rod and the Splitbranch Twig rod. Ocean’s Ruin needs the Thalassar’s Ruin rod, which gives a 30% chance.

We suggest hunting these three first, since they depend on specific rods. For Shiny, take a normal Depths Key to the Appraiser during a Shiny Surge. Look for the ship with the fishbone flag to find the plank.

Quest 2: Voices From Afar

This quest sends you to the Abyss. You need a Decayed Abyssal Slickhead, a Bioluminescent Abyssal Devourer, and a Crimson Abyssal Bearded Seadevil. Next comes a Sparkling Unlucky Abyssacuda, which needs both mutations on one fish.

The Shady Ancient Megalodon needs extra care. Shady alone does not count, so add Shiny to be safe. Finally, visit the Shady Bazaar and grab the radio from the Black Market Table.

Quest 3: Lights for the Lost

You need five more mutated fish here. Catch a Shiny Glowy Voidglow Ghostfish and a Sparkling Heavenly Obsidian Swordfish. Then land a Sunlit Midnight Axolotl, a Jackpot Bigfin Squid, and a Crystalline Monstrous Cusk.

Normal versions never count. Check the mutation tag before you leave each fishing spot. Once you finish, dive to the depths and find the light next to The Depths Angler.

Quest 4: A Letter Left Behind

This is the shortest quest. Catch a Harmonic Dove with Moon-Kissed, Lovestruck, or a similar accepted mutation. You only need one version, so keep the first you roll. Then catch a Plagued Fairy Penguin and a Blighted Wyvern.

Finish by traveling to Birch Cay. Enter the bunker and find the letter near the books.

Quest 5: The Great Blade

This quest tests you the most. Start with a Sanguine Skolopendra. Next, catch a Veiled Charybdis using the Flimsy Rod. The starter rod is mandatory here, so never sell or lose it. Then catch an Oscar Rusty Bolt.

Now enter the Olympian Fissure Portal and find the Great Blade behind the Olympian Godbreaker rod. Pay Draven 53 million coins. The game then sends you down a foggy path. Walk through it to claim your rod.

Black Fairy Rod Stats and Passives

The Black Fairy Rod comes with strong numbers across the board.

  • Lure Speed: 108%
  • Luck: 288%
  • Control: 0.18
  • Resilience: 28%
  • Max weight: infinite
  • Durability: 200

It also adds 65% fish weight, 34% progress speed, and 16% forced progress speed. Mutation chances include Guiltbound at 30% (6x), Otherworldly at 25% (8x), and Purgatorial at 20% (11.2x).

The Soul mechanic is where the rod earns its price. Each catch has a 45% chance to release one to four souls. Every soul adds 25% of the fish’s coin value. Souls average about 2.5 per release, so a typical release adds roughly 60% extra coins. Purgatorial fish always release four souls, which doubles their payout.

Soul Judgement also triggers every 5 to 8 seconds. Hit the center, and you get 55% extra progress, a four-second stun, and 13% more Purgatorial chance. You also earn 10,000 XP in your rod journal.

Is the Black Fairy Rod Worth the Grind?

We think it is, if you plan to farm coins. The quest chain is long, and the 53 million payment hurts. Soul bonuses help you earn that back over time.

A few habits make the run smoother:

  • Keep a checklist of every fish and mutation before you travel.
  • Stock Ghastly and Shiny boosters before you start Quest 1.
  • Hold your coins until you finish Quest 4.

Take it one quest at a time, and you will reach the foggy path sooner than you expect.
