Pokemon Pokopia is no stranger to limited-time events, and the latest one brings one of the most recognizable starter Pokemon to center stage. Following the conclusion of the Hoppip event, the next in-game event, Bulbasaur’s Jump Rope Contest, runs from Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. to Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 4:59 a.m. local time. If you have been meaning to get more out of Pokopia’s mini-games, this is a solid reason to log in every day this week.
What Is the Bulbasaur Jump Rope Contest?
In the Jump Rope Contest, you use Bulbasaur’s vines as a rope and hop over them as many times in a row as you can. Depending on how well you do, you unlock various prizes, with an exclusive trophy being the number one draw. While the jump rope mini-game itself has always been available in Pokopia, the rewards are improved for this limited-time event, making it worth pushing for a higher score than you normally would.
The contest will only be available for a limited time with no guarantee it will return, so if you are hoping to participate, you need to make sure you log in at least once during the event. Thankfully, you can unlock all the rewards in a single play session, so even if you have limited time to play, it should be easy enough to make sure you do not miss out on anything.
How to Access the Event

Before you can jump in, there is one prerequisite to clear. To access the event, you have to have completed the main quest “Yawn Up a Storm” in the Withered Wasteland. Once that is done, the rest is straightforward.
As long as your Switch 2 is set to the time and date listed for the event, you should see Bulbasaur hanging around the Pokemon Center as soon as you open Pokopia. Regardless of which zone you are in, Bulbasaur will spawn in front of that zone’s Pokemon Center with a speech bubble saying they would like to start a contest.
If the contest banner is not showing above Bulbasaur’s head right away, simply hang around the Pokemon Center until the notification appears. Once it does, speak to Bulbasaur to get the mini-game started.
All Event Rewards and Jump Thresholds
The prizes scale with your jump count, so the further you go, the better the rewards. Here is a full breakdown of what you can earn during the event:
- 1 jump or more: Leppa Berry
- 11 jumps or more: Honey or Star Piece
- 21 jumps or more: Large Lost Relic
- 31 jumps or more: Three Rainbow Feathers (event exclusive)
- 41 jumps or more: Three Silver Feathers (event exclusive)
- 51 jumps or more: Jump Rope Trophy (event exclusive)
- 76 jumps or more: 30 Poke Metal
- 101 jumps or more: 10 Rare Poke Metal
- Every additional 10 jumps past 101: 10 more Rare Poke Metal
The Jump Rope Trophy is the headline reward, and it is only obtainable during this event window. Hitting 51 consecutive jumps is the minimum required to secure it. Reaching 101 jumps and beyond opens up the rarest currency in the reward pool. You can attempt the mini-game every day throughout the contest, and to complete the event fully and earn all available rewards, you will want to score at least 141 jumps in a single attempt.
Tips and Tricks for Getting a High Score

The jump rope mini-game is deceptively tricky. The speed is randomized and changes throughout the attempt, so there is no fixed rhythm to memorize. Here is what can actually help:
- Listen to the rope, not Bulbasaur. During the first 10 or so jumps, Bulbasaur will try to cue you on when to jump by making a sound, but you can ignore that. Instead, listen to the sound of the jump rope itself. It makes two distinct sounds: a whoosh and then the rope hitting the ground. When you hear that second sound, press the button.
- Watch for the exclamation mark. Bulbasaur will frequently change the pace, indicated by an exclamation point above its head. The pace changes roughly every 10 jumps, so stay focused when you see that signal.
- Do not let spectators distract you. Pokemon in the area will come to watch you jump and can sometimes get quite close, which can be distracting. Keep your eyes on the rope and rely on audio cues as much as possible.
- Jump just after the rope hits the floor. Based on player observations, the ideal timing is a split second after the rope whiplashes on the ground, but since the speed changes randomly, practice is the best way to develop a feel for it.
- Retry freely. When you miss a jump, Bulbasaur will immediately ask if you want to try again. You can replay as many times as needed during the event period, so do not worry if your first few runs fall short.
Multiplayer and Cloud Islands
You can also meet up with other players either in their worlds or on Cloud Islands to participate in a multiplayer jump rope contest. In another player’s world, both the host and guests can participate in the jump rope contest, including those playing in spectator mode. The highest number of jumps recorded by any participating player will become that world’s high score, but only the host will receive prizes.
If you are looking to compete more directly with friends, heading to a Cloud Island changes the dynamic slightly. On a Cloud Island, the player with the highest score among the group will be the one to earn the event rewards. Either way, jumping with others adds a fun social layer to what is otherwise a solo challenge.
What Happens After April 26?
Once the event window closes, Bulbasaur returns to its normal role, and the event-exclusive prizes, most importantly the Jump Rope Trophy, will no longer be obtainable through standard means. Events in Pokopia are based on your system’s internal clock, so if you miss the event, you can technically change the date on your Switch 2 to a date within the event window and participate, though this may have unintended consequences depending on how far your save file has progressed. The safest approach is to simply log in at least once before April 26.
Before the Sableye event arrives at the end of April, this is the last chance to take part in a limited-run event, so Pokopia explorers will want to prep early to get all the rewards. If you are still working toward the trophy, keep at it. With enough practice on the audio cues and some patience with the randomized pace, 51 jumps is well within reach.
